In Amelia Saltsman’s home, Hanukkah means zengoula (Iraqi funnel cakes) some nights, sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts), and latkes on others – all fried dishes from different Jewish traditions, commemorating the eight nights of oil that fueled the Hanukkah miracle.
