Rolling meatballs, chopping onions, breaking a head of cauliflower into florets: kitchen tasks can hold a meditative quality. The rhythm in repetition can lead to relaxation. We can take our time if we wish, easing into the endeavour rather than viewing it as a burden. It may have been a harried day at work but once at home, in the kitchen, we know just what to do.
